WHY MEDITATE

During most of our waking day our minds are engaged in a continuous dialogue wherein the meaning and emotion of one thought leads to another thought. Most of the time we are not even aware of this stream of thoughts. Because of the negativity bias of our mind (a condition passed down from our ancient ancestors where they were always on the lookout for life threatening events), our mind is primed to focus on the negative aspect of these thoughts. These negative thoughts are the source of much stress which brings negative physiological effects.

Research has established that a regular meditation practice produces tangible benefits such as: Decreased Blood Pressure; Lower Cholesterol Levels; Reduced “stress hormones” Cortisol and Adrenaline; Increased “anti-aging hormone” DHEA; Decreased Anxiety, Depression, and Insomnia.

Other studies have provided evidence of improved ability to stay focused, better memory and heightened ability to learn.

Meditation is a source of happiness. Meditation is about being, not doing. It brings a sense of calm into your everyday life. Through a silenced mind we find inspiration and compassion. Through meditation we can find a deeper appreciation and a profound awareness of the divine quality of existence.

Practice not-doing and everything will fall into place.
